Introduction

For several years the school has been considering how we affect our environment.  Children are taught in lessons about sustainability and what impact the modern world has on people across the world.  We have an Eco Committee made up of staff and pupils who meet regularly to assess how we are doing and what more can be done.  They promote campaigns such as the ‘switch off fortnight’ and ‘waste week’ to get everyone thinking about saving resources.  Most classrooms now have paper recycling containers and we compost food peelings.  Pupils have designed posters to raise awareness and these are displayed around school.  You can see more of what has been done within our Action Plan.

In addition to all this we became a pilot school for the local authority in reducing our energy output and last year gained the Eco Schools Silver Award towards achieving a sustainable future.  We are hoping to achieve the Green Flag Award very soon.
