Key Subject Information
Pupils who opt for GCSE Music will follow the OCR Music course.  They will study a wide variety of musical genres and have the chance to perform and compose on an instrument, or instruments, of their choice.

Polyrhythms.
Analysing African Music.

  • Identify characteristic rhythms and metres of African drumming music.
  • Understand the origins and cultural context of African drumming music.
  • Describe the key features of this style of music in listening activities.

Spring 2

Bhangra Music.
Key features of Bhangra Music.
Performing Bhangra.
Composing Bhangra

  • Identify the impact of modern technology on traditional music.
  • Understand the origins and cultural context of Bhangra.
  • Describe the key features of this style and how styles are fused together in Bhangra.
