Tutor Time Activities

Students begin their Light Hall day within house tutor groups for 20 minutes each morning. They follow the below programme:

All year groups have a ‘thought for the week’ which links to national or global days of awareness. See below for our ‘thought for the week’ calendar for the autumn term:

Students are encouraged to discuss the theme and answer key questions related to it, which provokes thoughtful reflection. The theme is also explored in the house assembly of that week too.

All students reflect on our six key Light Hall Learning Skills in tutor time. Click here for further details.

Students in Key Stage Three complete half termly projects which enables them to work towards their Light Hall Award. These projects explore equality and diversity. Examples of which are: inter-faith week, the importance of charities and women over the years.

Please click here for an example project.

In Key Stage Four, students look at current affairs and use news articles to develop their oracy skills in terms of discussion and debate.

Please click here  for an example of an oracy activity.
