Resilience is the key

Mr Hayfield has been holding very informative assemblies on mental health, giving helpful strategies and support structures that our students can use.   He also reminded students where they can find support if they need it.   The message to our community was that everyone has to look after their mental health, whoever you are and from whatever walk of life.

This was further supported by the whole staff “resilience” training during our Inset on Wednesday.   In the afternoon staff also had the opportunity to attend courses run in multiple schools across the borough and we welcomed colleagues from other schools to Light Hall.

Year 10 have undertaken their PSHE day with discussion centring around the question “Is success only possible when physical and emotional needs are in balance?”   Students looked at working to build their own resilience and how to plan for future success.  Year 8 also considered and analysed their task of “can the choices I make now influence my future”.

We are pleased to announce that our “Hearts for Hearts” cake sale last week raised £137 towards the community defibrillator and I wish to thank all the parents and students who donated their cakes (and the time it took to bake them) so generously.

Finally, thank you to the all the Year 10 parents who attended parents’ evening last night.  It was very well attended.

Have a lovely weekend.
