Learning, Creating, Exploring

Our Transition Day is designed to give students a real taste of Sixth Form life  and last year’s event was packed with energy, creativity, and curiosity.

Here are just a few examples of the subject sessions and enrichment activities our students took part in:

🔬 Subject Tasters

  • Science: Students explored the microscopic world through hands-on lab work using microscopes and prepared their own slides.
  • Psychology : Learners completed personality profiling tasks to better understand their learning styles and strengths.
  • Art & Design: Creative minds got stuck into stencil work and fabric design, producing personalised tote bags.
  • Religious Studies: Thought-provoking discussions challenged students to reflect on the value of life and explore ethical questions such as whether one life can be considered more valuable than another.
  • Economics: In a fast-paced escape room challenge themed around international trade, students worked in teams to solve puzzles and unlock the secrets of global economics.

🌟 Enrichment Activities

  • Leadership & Teamwork: Activities designed to build confidence and collaboration.
  • Creative Expression: From painting to baking, students explored new skills and hobbies.
  • Wellbeing & Life Skills: Sessions focused on independence, resilience, and preparing for life beyond school.
  • Enrichment: Budding chefs baked oat bars and sweet treats while learning about nutrition and food science.

These sessions not only introduced students to the academic expectations of Sixth Form but also highlighted the vibrant enrichment opportunities that make Light Hall a supportive and inspiring place to learn.
