CHALLENGE – Geography Field Trip to Cadbury’s June 2015

CHALLENGE – Geography Field Trip to Cadbury’s June 2015

The Geography Department took Yr 8 and 9 students to Cadbury World on the 19th and 22nd of June. Students went to investigate the industry of chocolate production and to extend their knowledge of Fair Trade, linked to the lessons on Ghana and Industry we have been studying in school. The students particularly enjoyed the interactive and informative displays, as well as the 4D cinema! – they also enjoyed sampling the chocolate!

INSPIRE – ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ Drama Trip June 2015

There wasn’t a dry eye in the Belgrade Theatre last Friday as the stunning and thought provoking performance of ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ took place. Forty of our key stage three drama students went accompanied by Mrs Wedderburn and  Miss Howard. For many of them it was their first visit to the theatre and they were very pleasantly surprised.

The production was aesthetically creative as media was combined with live performance to bring a modern adaptation suitable for any age. Our students were a credit to us as they behaved exceptionally well and rose to the challenge of representing our school. The actors were fantastic and were clearly very well rehearsed, especially the child actors playing Bruno and Schmuel! This was a great opportunity for our pupils to aspire to be actors, proving that their youth should not be a disadvantage to them. A great night all round!

Motivational Warwickshire College Drama Visit June 2015

A group of year 10 drama students made a visit to the Henley-in-Arden campus of Warwickshire College this week, for a day of Production Arts!

In the morning, students took part in a costume designing workshop. This confused many of the students as it  drew heavily on their mathematical skills. Who would have thought drama and maths could be so closely linked?

In the afternoon, the students worked on props, creating their very own amputated finger! Using latex to create a mould, and adding make up and fake blood, they produced very life-like replicas of their own fingers and thumbs. This then enabled our students to play gruesome tricks on their families when they went home with their own personalised souvenir of the day!
