As you will know, since school closed to the vast majority of pupils in March, we have been working hard to facilitate the remote learning opportunities for our student’s through our school’s use of Show My Homework and other online platforms. Our teachers are also using a range of methods for students to upload work, complete quizzes and communicate with teachers. We appreciate that this has not been easy as we all adjust to these changes and the challenges for parents in trying to facilitate learning at home. We are grateful for the time and effort that you have put into helping your child in these difficult times. We also appreciate that some parents and carers may have experienced issues with accessing their parent account for Show My Homework in order to better support your son or daughter’s learning. If you are having any difficulties with accessing your child’s account, or you have misplaced the login details, then please email the school at email@example.com with your child’s full name and tutor group and we will forward on the parent access codes to you.
Recent guidance from the Department of Education and Public Health England indicate that while some pupils in Year 10 will return to the classroom for some ‘face to face time’ with teachers, pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 will not return to school at this current time. Over the next few weeks, we will be extending our online learning provision to better support the students. We will continue to use Show My Homework to support their learning but will be introducing a trial of some more online content, videos and live communication using Microsoft Teams, which students have access to via their school email accounts. We will be contacting those involved in the trial separately and hope to roll this out to all students in some form soon. This is going to be an important element of our teaching and learning strategy moving forward and, as such, we need to ensure that all students and parents are aware of, and agree to, the Remote Learning Behaviour Agreement outlined below.
This agreement sits alongside the School’s Behaviour for Learning Policy and is developed with the aim of providing the best teaching and learning possible for our students whilst at the same time protecting our staff. It is essential that all parties are respectful of each other and that the use of such technology does not become an invasion of privacy.
