Many students have been involved in assessments and examinations this week and everyone has been impressed by the mature way in which students have conducted themselves and taken their work and studies so seriously. Not all assessments have been the written variety I and members of the senior team had the pleasure of seeing the final outcomes of some of the year 10 catering students practical examination. The afternoon tea they had prepared looked delicious – we were only sorry we did not get to taste some of the excellent cakes and biscuits! Very well done to all students who have been sitting examinations this week.
As always at Light Hall, learning has not been limited solely to reading and writing. A plethora of educational visits continues with a group of our year 10 students successfully completing an expedition at the weekend surviving the weather but not the midges! Students in year 8 and 9 are taking part in a geography field trip on Friday and Monday and Mrs Wedderburn and Miss Howard are taking a group of year 7 and 8 students to the Belgrade theatre to see The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas on Friday evening.
I have had the pleasure of congratulating the following students this week on their excellent work and they have entered their names into the Golden Book:
Bethany G, Matty H, James H, Haatim S, Agatha T, Aaminah A, Sanna A, Ruth H, Sarah M and Will G for achieving their bronze Crest Award in science and Lily B for not only achieving her bronze Crest Award but also for her outsanding contribution to tennis. Very well done to all these students and my best wishes for a relaxing weekend.
