Subject Overview

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Art, Craft & Design at Light Hall School is a popular subject. We offer a diverse and well-rounded curriculum for all students.

Whilst studying Art in KS3, you will be introduced to a wide range of media and mediums through thematic projects and start to develop basic artistic knowledge and skills. Ranging from tonal pencil drawing, printing, 3D, ceramics, photography, animation and painting.

Embarking upon your GCSE Art, Craft & Design allows students to further refine their skills in their chosen area of study. The course allows students to create a portfolio of personal projects showcasing their artistic ability.

GCSE STRUCTURE

UNIT 1 60%

During your GCSE Art Craft & Design course you will produce a minimum of 2 coursework projects from the given themes with your chosen media/medium.

UNIT 2 40%

January of year 11 students then embark upon the externally set assignment from the exam board.

EXTRA CURRICULAR

There are a range of extracurricular activities running throughout the Art department during break times and after school. Ranging from Pottery club, KS3 Art club, KS3 manga & Anime club, KS3 Photography club KS4 catch up clubs, KS4 1-1 tutorials/masterclasses.

WHAT COURSES OR EMPLOYMENT CAN I PROGRESS TO AT THE END OF MY COURSE?

There are many local creative courses available for students should you wish to pursue a career in the creative industry.
