Sunshine and Smiles

Despite the cold, windy start to the week Light Hall has remained a sunny, smiley place. Fortunately, now the sun has come out to match the mood in school.

Year 11 have continued to conduct themselves in an excellent fashion in the examinations and in all the revision sessions. Many students came in over the half term week to work with staff on final preparation for the exams.

Lots of students have been out and about this week too, extending their learning beyond school.  Mr Turvey accompanied some of our budding engineers to New Street Station to investigate the engineering project which is currently taking place there – they even made a station announcement!

Many year 10s visited Solihull Sixth Form College to begin planning their future and all of our athletics, cricket and rounders teams have been playing fixtures away this week.  It has been delightful to hear of their fantastic sporting and team spirit.

I have visited lots of  lessons this week and I was pleased to see how all students have returned from the half term break, refreshed and prepared to work hard in the final half term. I was particularly impressed by the excellent discussions I witnessed in English lessons and some of the creative art work I saw from our younger students.  Internal examinations are in full swing, very well done to all students for their excellent work ethos.

Congratulations to Neve C and Elliot W, who have entered their names into Light Hall’s Golden Book for their service to the community. Both students are fine examples of what we are about at Light Hall – Care and Respect being one of our core values. On their way home from an examination this week they took the time to help an elderly lady who had collapsed in the street, seeing her into her home and assisting until they were sure that she was in safe hands.

My very best wishes for a relaxing weekend.
