Welcome Back!

Thank you to parents for your support in ensuring that everyone is appropriately dressed for school.  Year 7 have settled in very quickly and have impressed with their enthusiasm and excellent manners.   So many of our older students have also supported this transition process and I must give a special mention to our Year 10 peer mentors who came into school on the very last day of their summer holiday to look after and guide our new Year 7.

We welcome a number of new teaching staff, both experienced and newly qualified, to our team.  They are already settling in very well.  In English: Mrs Pemberton; Mr Bridgewater and Ms Yorke Maths:  Miss Tongue;  Science:  Ms Baxter, Ms Watkins; Mr Ogier and  Ms Anderson; RE:  Ms Read; PE:  Ms Durrant; French & Spanish:  Ms Lahure and Ms Plante.    Geography:  M Whan; History:  Miss Pollock.  Ms Stoddard is covering for Ms O’Brien.

Congratulations to Mrs Tolley on the birth of her baby daughter and Mr Ramkhelawon on the birth of his son over the summer.  We congratulate Mrs Scobie (formerly Miss Boreham) on her marriage during the break.

Our new caterers, Taylor Shaw, are settling in well.  I have had positive reviews about the quality of the food they are providing but am aware that they are working to reduce queuing time for our students.   Please do provide any further feedback that will help us to ensure that our children are well fed and happy with the food you are purchasing.   (Contact:  dhill@lighthall.co.uk)

As a final note we must all congratulate last year’s year 11 students on their pleasing examination results.   Their hard work paid off and they demonstrated that they have gained the detailed knowledge, skills and qualifications they needed.  They have accessed a variety of destinations that met their interests and aspirations.   Our internal assessment of the progress they made suggests that there have been improvements in comparison to previous years.

It was delightful to see those parents who were able to attend our information evenings.  Please do not hesitate to contact school if you are have any queries or concerns regarding the information we have sent out.

Best wishes for a lovely weekend.
